Day 10 - a story about a past relationship

I miss having that close relationship with my 1st cousins Janine and Trustine.  Growing up, we were inseparable. We did everything together! Most everyone knew us as a "three" thats how close we were. I remember going to volleyball practice everyday together, going to our uncle Siona's to clean his house for money...lol those were the good times.
My name was actually supposed to be "Christine"...Our mothers planned that their daughters names would be similar so it would be Janine, Christine, Trustine then the younger girls, Kayleen, Rayleen, Celestine and so on, you get the point. But unfortunately my mom wanted to be different! haha

I wonder If I did have that name..weird? lol

Anyway,  As we all got older...Nini and I had kids, Tini went off to school in Wyoming and since then, everything has been different...but thats ok. I love these girls and would do anything for them in a heart beat

Day 9 - Someone your proud of

Rex Lee Alo Jr.
My not so "little" brother is who I am proud of. We always fought when we were younger and both would find anything to get the other in trouble. My mom always took his side though since he was the baby of the family lol Marjorie and Stephen (my inlaws) remind me so much of myself and Rex...always arguing over nothing! haha
Everything changed when we got older and now, he is more like a best friend to me. I'm so proud of him for all his accomplishments in life. In high school, he was always on the honor roll and involved in multiple activities. He now attends Utah Valley University striving to become a Pediatrician. I wish him the best of luck! You can do it Rex!

Anyway, He sent my sisters and I an email yesterday about a dream that he had. I hope he doesn't mind if I share:

"I just felt like I needed to share this with you guys but anyways so I've been slacking off on my scripture reading and with some stuff and all that but I had this dream last night that really helped a lot and answered my prayers so here it is:

"I was shopping in the mall and was getting ready to leave. Right as I was walking out something pulls me in, it wasn't like a pus, it was a BIG pull. It grabbed my leg and pulled me up towards the ceiling in the mall. I tried to resist it and tried everything else to get away from it but I couldn't. I started crying, all of a sudden I see dad outside the door and he was telling me we got to go and to hurry up. I was sitting there crying for help and dad couldn't help me. He stood by the door as if I wasn't getting dragged in so I started to cry more and also asking for help and then I dropped to the ground. There, I was laying face down on the ground crying...wondering why? Why me? A friend came up to me and told me the reason why is that your not ready..your not prepared, and when you start falling away from who you are and falling away from your studies our going to fall and your going to fall hard [END]"

Touching story right? It almost brought me to tears and I wish I was there to just give Rex a hug. Its amazing how our Heavenly Father answers prayers.

We love you Rex and wish you the best of Luck in everything you do! Good luck today at USU on your volleyball game and also, don't forget who you are..."A child of GOD"

Thinking...

Did your momma see you when you walked out the house like that? haha It seriously was freezing cold Friday night at our little brothers football game and I couldn't help but stare at these 2 little girls, maybe around 9 or 10 yrs old, standing in front of us, wearing TANK TOPS! Are you kidding me? I could literally see my breath every time I exhaled. I had a sweater and a jacket on and I was still cold...

It was utterly age-INAPPROPRIATE. What are parents thinking letting their daughters go out like this? I would understand if it's summer, but it clearly isn't.

Phew! Ok, rant over. I just don't understand it and I see this type of thing regularly and It bugs me.

Day 08 - Short term goals for this month and why

Goals for November 2010:

-Get a gym membership at LA Fitness. Why? Because my weight is increasing and its depressing! haha I really want to start working out more and making it a habit.
Wish me Luck!

Day 7 - A picture of someone/something that has the biggest impact on you

The person who has made the biggest impact on my life is my mother, Uanita Tafili Alo. Growing up I never really had that mother daughter connection with her. I felt like I was always forced to do everything and that my mom was living her dreams through me by signing me up for multiple activities. The other day I was reading through some of my journals that I had written during my Junior high school days and I hated myself for speaking so negative about my mom. I look at myself today and she truly is a mirror for me...I see so much of myself in her. Other than the obvious answer of giving me life, she has given me so much more than that. Because of her examples, I know how to be a good mother to my two boys. She was always there to support me in everything I do and even though at times we'll have our disagreements, I will always love her unconditionally.

I received a letter from her today, along with some stuff that she bought for the boys...It made my cry a little. I wanted to share a little of what she wrote:

"Tilly, I love you and miss you so much. Make sure you teach Drey & Zee Discipline and take them to nursery at church. Make sure they both have books around and take time to walk them to the park. I love you and Lance. Stay true and active to your calling. Be a good YW leader and use your talent for the YW.....Tilly, respect your husband. Watch your mouth and think before you speak. I love you...."

I laughed when I read the end of her letter. She definitely knows me too well. I'm so grateful to have a wonderful mother in my life and a great Grandma to my kids. I love you MOM!

30 day challenge. Day 6

Sad that I can't even think of a hobby that I have other than playing sports. However, I would love to start doing Vinyl lettering in the near future. They are so cute and would be great for home decorations or even gifts.

30 day challenge. Day 5

A picture of somewhere you've been to:

I've been to Samoa 3 times already. Wish I could go this year December for our family reunion. Super bummed out about it.
Matareva Beach
Lalomanu Beach (The Tsunami hit this side hard last year)

When I was younger I used to travel every year for AAU basketball and club volleyball tournaments. Some places I've been to are...
Orlando, Florida for AAU Nationals in 2001
Amarillo, Texas
Dayton, Ohio
Connecticut (I don't remember what city)
Las Vegas, Nevada (We went every year during easter break for the "AND1" tournaments. I think they still have it every year?)

I wish had pictures from all my trips. Back then I didn't believe in digital cameras, only disposable ones lol
